LLC in Florida

The most basic paper for forming an LLC in Florida is the Articles of Organization. The State form is available online, as a PDF form: Florida LLC Articles of Organization.

To view and print the file, you need Adobe Acrobat Reader, available here: Adobe Acrobat Reader Download

Before you file any papers, you will want to check the name you like, to see if it is available. Here are the steps.

Make a list of at least a few names. Then, go to the State of Florida website to check the name availability of each name. Pick your business name from the available names.

Once you have an available name you like, you can fill in the Articles of Organization form and file it with the State of Florida.

You cannot just file the articles of organization and have a complete setup. There is more paperwork, such as an operating agreement.

The easiest way to get the paperwork done is for an attorney to prepare the organizational documents. This will cost about $1,000. An attorney is recommended, if you can afford it. If you pay an attorney to set up your business, then you have started a relationship. Later on, if you have a legal question, you can call your attorney and be treated as a client, not as a stranger.

If you cannot afford the cost of an attorney, you can use one of the online service to get your paperwork done. One service that gives good value is My New Company.

This company has a reasonable price for the work they do. Their website is very informative. They will take care of forming an LLC in Florida for $234, including the State fee.
